Has a surface of 165 hectares and was declared a reserve on May 9 th 1986, included in the declaration of the Natural spaces of the Natural Park of the northern Isles and the cliffs of Famara. The little Isles, situated north from Lanzarote have a majestic beauty, pointing out of the water like arrows on a whitish colour, it is refuge for lots of different birds, some of which are menaced and protected. As far as the terms expressed by the European Union, it is a very important refuge nesting area for birds, with a high concentration on autochthon and migrating marine and land species. In the special case of the "Paiño Pechialto" the total number of them in the whole of the Canary Islands are nesting in this Reserve. The existence of archaeological sites from the Palaeolithic adds a scientific interest.
